The Bland Diet

Welcome to my world.

I can only eat things that are beige.

Beige and bland.

Entirely tasteless would be a plus.

Flavour??? Get away from me you evil thing....back! back!

Beige things I have eaten this week:

*potatoes
*bread rolls
*cauliflower cheese
*macaroni cheese
*crackers
*plain biscuits

On a slight detour away from the beige but still very much in the bland....I woke up the other day in the middle of a dream about baked beans. Baked beans with those nasty little sausages in them.

I couldn't keep down a bread roll that day. But beans? Yes baked beans were in.

I was landed in Canada.

And now I'm blanded in New Zealand.

What will become of me?

(Oh and please send me your recipes for the blandest meals in the universe....prizes to those with only beige ingredients....)

This is utterly fascinating to me!

Would oats made with water be too tasty? I think they're good for you too/two (my parents loved to force oats on me)

Also, you might want to explore all the possiblities that ice has to offer.

Oh dear..... Umm I like boiled or baked potatoes cut up and smooshed flat then add sliced avocado and you are away! Very plain BUT contains a balance of carbs, protein and fat!

Oh and you have to see the cute picture of me and mom on my site!

noodles. noodles are bland. noodles with salt and butter.

rice. rice is bland.
white rice with salt and butter.

tortillas. tortillas with
cheese. or tortillas with peanut butter and jelly. (that may sound horrible to you being akin to vegemite stuff but to me- it's heaven in a roll)

watered down chicken noodle soup.
with bit of cooked/pureed celery in it because i have heard that celery is suppose to help morning sickness.

and i'll keep thinking.

(saltines- they're bland).

AAAHHHHHH! now i get it...beige... bland...procreation.
The puzzle came together when i scrolled down a few. the moon must be shining for zealanders. i mean first lynley & now you. if it's a girl, then it's going to be the transplanted rose of england. BUT, if it's a boy, you might have woody woodpecker on your hands. a real trouble-maker a la dave.
but in either scenario this is real cool news, and my congrats to the stud who sired the little pumpkin.
and, i'm eating brown rice at the moment. very bland if left un-sauced.

Bland…bland…bland…I am not sure what to say but you could try noodles, crackers, oats, rice, bread, plain pastry, water, plain yogurt (maybe), these are ideas from my wonderful mother because she has been there…I hope you get over this stage quick so that you can get back into eating the things that you love.

My Favorite soup
lovely soup made from butternut squash with a couple of carrots and a small onion. Peel the squash V carefully ( i use a potatoe peeler)Chop them all up and cook for about 40 minutes in some water with a chicken stock cube. Tasty in bland nutirious way. To make it slighty tastier ( if you can cope) is to grill some slices of smoked bacon ( no fat, use medaions or cut off as much as poss) and then add them to the soup at the end. Let it all cool down somewhat and then liquidise it. It is lovely.

PS fish finger mash potato peas and parsley sauce is a nice combo as well, also you don't have to chew it too much...

Umm . . . Cinnamon raisin bagels are pretty good.
For the most part, it's bland but with a hint of taste to it (so you don't completely hate it)

They've been a god-sent to me . . .maybe they'll help you too.

I must say my cousin ate a lot of cinnamon raisin bagels with her first as well..... might be worth a shot if they have them way over there in New Zealand!

Hmmm... my favourite bland food would be Taro root. Poi. I honestly think that takes the trophy. I had one too many bowls of it back in Hawai`i. And hey! You're in NZ! There should be an abundance of taro there! That's it, go find yourself a taro root and chew chomp your dyspepsia away! Cheers!

hmmmm ... popsicles worked wonders for me. (And a lot of other folks I know. I fact, one chick I know made her husband bring her popsicles [orange-flavoured if I recall] to her in bed before she got out of bed in the morning.) Maybe popsicles come potatoe-flavoured now?

Also, I found it helped tremendously if I ate small portions every hour or so. Unfortunately, I'm not joking about that. Of course, that's probably why I put on 50lbs with each kid. ahem.

Semoline - I'm sure my Great AUntie MArgaret who had .....8 kids (think Family Von Tramp - yes she used to call them her own wee orchestra) swore by it...and then made her kids (Or guests, boo hoo, I think that's what made me swear to never have as many kids as that!)eat it!
What about rusks...then you can sypathize with wht your wee one will beeating, oh and I see kids eating cheerios all the time.....oh beige but good...shortbread - yummy! My Mum bought me the biggest box of imported Walkers shortbread lat time she was here - funny is my mum!rice cakes..ug! Oh Chai lattes are beige but not bland!!

Thanks for all the top tips guys. I think I may be re-defining bland though....cinnamon bagels are PACKED full of flavour according to my tastebuds.

The mighty potato is still the food of choice from my tum...and on an exciting day a bit of plain, white fish. Or a white bread roll.

On the whole I've gone off food - bleurgh nasty stuff.

Ahh, plain rice cakes...those are my most favorite bland thing ever! Without any topping, just the origional, Quaker, white/beige, bland, beautiful rice cakes. Fantastic! Just had 2 of them a few minutes ago...

Well, you know, it could be argued that this is better than having a craving for strawberries and tuna fish at 3am!! Dave is truly blessed...in oh so many ways!

I really like plain natural low fat yoghurt. I also like warm pitta bread. Maybe try that!
